Carol Bothwell is the Chief Learning Officer of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), a non-profit international relief and development organization that spends over $600 million annually to serve impoverished and disadvantage people in 100 countries around the world. She leads the agency's federated IT organization, works with the agency's CEO and Executive Leadership team to align IT and business strategy, and manages the agency's global knowledge environment. Prior to joining CRS in October 2007, Carol was a Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer with CSC, a global information technology services company with over 79,000 employees and operations spanning 59 countries worldwide. Over the course of her career she has managed large, global business change, system development and integration programs for a variety of international, commercial, and government clients. In the late 1990's, Carol was appointed CSC's first Chief Knowledge Officer. Her implementation of CSC's global knowledge environment was recognized by industry analysts and thought leaders as one of industry's most successful knowledge management implementations. Carol also served as a CSC's Resident Affiliate to Carnegie Melon's Software Engineering Institute (SEI). Her process improvement work enabled CSC to obtain high SEI Capability Maturity Model ratings for their software development, acquisition, and maintenance practices. Bothwell earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics Cum Laude from Goucher College, an MBA with distinction from the New York Institute of Technology, and is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Delta Mu Delta Honor Societies. She has conducted lectures and classes on various technology, process, and knowledge management topics in a variety of commercial and university forums.
