Daryl Skoog is the Vice President to MIS Services for Opportunity International (OI), serves and the Chief Technology Officer for the OI Network of Implementing Partners since 2000. For 22 years prior to joining OI, Daryl served various technology leadership roles at Federal Express including the Chief Information Officer for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region from 1991–1998. Throughout his career, Daryl has been working to improve the way the world works through the use of advanced technology.
One of the major challenges of serving the poor with effective financial services is delivery of information to the clients. The clients that most need our help are often times in locations with very poor communications infrastructure. Delivery of client account information is as critical as delivering the actual financial services. Finding telecommunications solutions and off grid electrical power of high quality at affordable prices will be a major factor in helping alleviate poverty and is a top priority goal of Daryl and the OI MIS team.
Currently Daryl is Chairman of the Microfinance Technology Council and serves on the boards of Sevak Solutions and NetHope.
