NetHope member agencies have over 350,000 employees worldwide. Approximately 90% of the staff are located in the developing world – often in remote and austere environments. The modern day humanitarian worker is every bit a “knowledge worker.” Agency program staff are called on to gather information, analyze data, share program information and report to headquarters and ultimately stakeholder donors.
NetHope works with its member organizations to build field capacity through the appropriate use of information and communications technologies (ICT). This work takes many forms including:
Knowledge sharing through bi-annual Summits where members come together for weeklong working sessions. NetHope Summits facilitate the sharing of information and project data between member organizations, NetHope and the private sector.
NetHope Chapters are strategically located in regions where there are concentrations of member agency ICT professionals. NetHope chapters have been established in East Africa, West Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand.
ICT Skill Building programs are available for IT professionals and humanitarian program staff so that NGO staff can get the maximum benefit out of the ICT solutions that are in the field.
