Ed Granger-Happ Honored with NTEN Lifetime Achievement Award

The Nonprofit Technology Network distinguishes NetHope’s Founder and Chairman with prestigious industry recognition

Washington, D.C., April 16, 2010 – NetHope Founder and Chairman Ed Granger-Happ was bestowed the Nonprofit Technology Network Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Nonprofit Technology conference in Atlanta, GA. Granger-Happ was recognized at this year’s conference for his continued pursuit of and commitment to technological solutions that benefit the nonprofit sector. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to one person each year who has contributed to how technology is used to influence social change.

“The Lifetime Achievement Award is about the members of our community who have changed the way we do our work – which is exactly why Ed is being acknowledged,” said Holly Ross, Executive Director of NTEN. “He has shown us that technology is not just about the servers, it's about the mission, and the importance of sharing with each other in pursuit of a shared goal.”

Granger-Happ has more than thirty years of professional experience in which he has managed the full range of responsibilities for information services and high technology businesses. He is an established thought leader in the NGO sector and the author of numerous articles, presentations and publications. His accolades also include recognition in 2007 as one of the Top 100 Most Influential People in IT and one of the Top 100 CIOs according to the editors of eWEEK, CIO Insight and Baseline magazine.

“Ed’s vision of collaboration within the NGO community and private sector has helped inspire a whole new approach to affect change through technology,” stated Akhtar Badshah, Senior Director of Community Affairs at Microsoft.

For the past decade, Granger-Happ served as the Chief Information Officer at Save the Children in Westport, CT, before retiring at the end of 2009. Now as the Founder and Chairman of NetHope (www.nethope.org), a consortium of 29 leading international relief, development and conservation nonprofits focused on communications technology and collaboration, Granger-Happ continues to build on an impressive career of accomplishments in his work to solve humanitarian and conservation issues in the developing world.
