Habitat for Humanity Inaugurated as 30th Member of NetHope NGO Community

June 02, 2010

NetHope’s growing membership reflects an important milestone in the worldwide effort to improve collaboration and access to technology

Washington, D.C. – NetHope, a unique collaboration of the world's leading international humanitarian organizations working together to solve common problems in the developing world, today welcomed its newest member organization, Habitat for Humanity.  One of the world’s most recognized and respected nonprofit organizations, Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live.

As the landmark 30th member, Habitat for Humanity will contribute to and benefit from the shared knowledge and technology resources that are available to NetHope’s expanding community of leading NGOs.  NetHope’s collaborative approach and effective use of technology to address human development, emergency relief and conservation issues will enable Habitat for Humanity to have an even greater impact on the people and communities that they serve.

“We are excited to join NetHope and its member organizations in their efforts to affect positive change in the developing world,” said Gail Hyde, Chief Information Officer for Habitat for Humanity International. “We see this partnership as a strategic component of our goal to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness.”

“The addition of our 30th member is a gratifying acknowledgment of NetHope’s model for collaboration and effort to improve the international NGO community’s access to technology,” stated NetHope CEO Bill Brindley.  “It is truly a pleasure to work alongside an organization such as Habit for Humanity, and share their commitment to solving some of the world’s most important issues.”
