Washington, DC — WaterAid is delighted to announce it has become the 21st member of NetHope, an information technology consortium of leading non-governmental organizations (NGO’s), specializing in humanitarian relief, emergency response and conservation.
WaterAid is an international development agency working in 17 countries helping some of the world’s poorest people gain access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene education. To date, WaterAid has helped over 11 million people gain access to these basic services.
WaterAid’s Head of IT and Systems Peter Heather said “We’re delighted to be part of the NetHope consortium, and we look forward to the benefits this will bring. Access to greater technology overseas will aid both WaterAid and our partner organizations ability to deliver clean water and sanitation to communities in need.”
NetHope enables members to extend their communications infrastructure and internet-based applications in developing countries around the world. Members share knowledge and collaborate on ICT solutions, leveraging their power for capacity building and creating best practices in the field.
NetHope CEO Bill Brindley said “We are thrilled to welcome WaterAid into the NetHope family of ICT professionals. Their addition adds to the consortium’s collective information and communications technology (ICT) expertise, skills and capacity, which enables organizations to operate more effectively and efficiently around the globe.”
